Jefferson Canal South Water Control Structure
New Iberia, LA
DIVISION
Southern Constructors, in partnership with Royal Engineers & Consultants, successfully delivered the Jefferson Canal South Water Control Structure — an essential flood protection and drainage improvement project for Jefferson Parish.
The project involved the construction of a new reinforced concrete water control structure within the existing Jefferson Canal drainage system. Work included major excavation, installation of heavy-duty gates and flow control mechanisms, reinforced concrete pours, and the construction of headwalls and wingwalls to manage water flow efficiently.
This critical infrastructure allows Jefferson Parish to better regulate stormwater runoff and tidal inflows, reducing flood risks for nearby neighborhoods and roadways during heavy rainfall and hurricane events. By improving drainage capacity and water management, the Jefferson Canal South Water Control Structure strengthens the area’s resilience and protects homes, businesses, and vital transportation corridors.
The project reflects Southern Constructors’ ability to deliver complex civil works with precision and reliability, while collaborating with trusted partners like Royal Engineers & Consultants to safeguard Louisiana communities for generations to come.
